The Manchester Course
has been the leading MRCPsych course for over a decade. What we do -
getting people through their membership exams- hasn't changed...but how
we do it has... We want our online materials to shine. Our paper 1 and paper 2 materials are NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE. Paper 3 will follow shortly....
Our online courses divide each paper into 10 modules. 30 questions
for each module are available, which together with a full 200 question online exam
will give you access to 500 carefully chosen questions for each exam.
Fully referenced answers are provided for each question (with links to
relevant journal articles). Your scores highlight those modules of the
syllabus in which you are strong, or areas in which you are relatively
weak, allowing you to focus further revision on those areas. You can
also compare your results with your peer group in the mock exam.
We are also committed to delivering the best psychiatry teaching over 3 weekends in the classroom
to ensure your examination success. We are now in the process of
writing the definitive textbook for each part of the exam. Although we
love glowing rectangles as much as anyone else, we also love a well
produced book: readable, useful and well illustrated. We are not going
to churn out these new classroom course materials quickly. Everything
within these books will be thought through with meticulous care. The
three textbooks together will give you a fantastic picture of psychiatry
today. Our paper 1 textbook will launch at the classroom course in Autumn 2012. The paper 2 and 3 textbooks will follow in Spring 2013. These
exams lack a clear syllabus and it is easy to suffer from information
overload from multiple online sources. We have collected exam questions
and immersed ourselves in the psychiatric literature to give you a
carefully written and illustrated approach to exam success. Nigel Blackwood is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London and a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist with the North London Forensic Service. His research interests are in antisocial behaviour and psychosis. Alastair Santhouse is a Consultant in Psychological Medicine at Guy's Hospital, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. His research interests are in chronic fatigue syndrome and the psychiatry of transplant medicine. |
